The Mad Max franchise has been around for decades, and the films have become known for their extreme action sequences, gritty dystopias, and seething anti-heroes. In honor of the new film from George Miller that’s released today in theaters world wide we decided to rank all five movies from worst to best.

The “best mad max movie reddit” is a question that has been asked many times. The answer to the question is going to be different for everyone, but here are some of the best movies in the Mad Max series.

Few could have expected Mad Max’s lasting impact. Mel Gibson’s career was launched with the little Australian picture directed by George Miller in 1979, which opened the way for a slew of sequels centered in dystopian wastelands. The initial intention of the films was to portray the narrative of a guy striving to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. What followed was a film series that addressed everything from man’s brutality to women’s oppression in patriarchal societies. With his Mad Max trilogy, Miller established his own small world, and it’s been a welcome property amid a sea of them.

VIDEO OF THE DAY ON MOVIEWEB

Mad Max was the first film in the Mad Max franchise, which was released in 1979. Gibson portrayed Max Rockatansky, a Main Force Patrol officer attempting to live and maintain law and order on the roadways of dystopian Victoria, Australia. While the first film in the series maintained some semblance of civilisation, the later films in the series were complete post-apocalyptic anarchy, a look that would be copied by many future films. Mad Max: The Road Warrior, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, and Mad Max: Fury Road were all directed by George Miller. Each picture had its own distinct personality, further cementing Miller’s legendary legacy. The four films have left an impression, but how do they compare to one another? The Mad Max flicks have been rated.

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome) (Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdom

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the fourth film in the series, would be Gibson’s last appearance as the character. Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, released in 1985, had Max exploring the desert once again before arriving at Bartertown, the most advanced community in post-apocalyptic Australia.

Thunderdome was an action-packed picture that made the most of its larger budget and, at times, campiness. It didn’t quite measure up to the standards established by its predecessors, but it was nevertheless an action-packed movie that made the most of its higher budget and, at times, campiness. Furthermore, the set pieces are a feature that is often imitated.

With each sequel, the Mad Max franchise became bigger and larger, yet the first film in the series proved to be the most successful. Mad Max was shot on a shoestring budget of about $400k and grossed over $100 million, making it one of the most lucrative films ever. With less money to work with, Miller had to depend on his own resourcefulness, which he would do well throughout the series. The legendary Australian director’s ability to create powerful action scenes with low budget would become a trademark.

Mad Max depicted a younger, less contentious Gibson as the infamous former lawman seeking vengeance after his wife and daughter were murdered. Due to economic limits, Miller didn’t take the entire dystopian path for the picture, but his vision was nonetheless amazing. The slow-declining Australian civilization’s style, along with Max’s distinctive leather jacket and Ford Interceptor, helped launch the famed series.

Mad Max: The Road Warrior (Mad Max: The Road Warrior) (Mad Max: The Road W

The Road Warrior

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, the sequel to Mad Max, took everything from the first film and enlarged on it in a big manner. Miller skillfully built a post-apocalyptic setting that would become a blueprint for the remainder of the series on a budget of around $5 million.

Max would become renowned as the silent protagonist, and Gibson came into his own as that character. The Road Warrior had Max traversing the desert after the carnage of the first film, functioning as a lone gunner charged with assisting a group of settlers who were at the mercy of a band of marauders.

Miller’s vision, along with those of his partners, resulted in a distinct picture of the post-apocalyptic film that would be used by filmmakers for years to come. The leather-clad look of the wandering marauders is one of the film’s most memorable images. This, along with cinematographer Dean Semler’s broad vision of the vast Australian outback and Miller’s flair for filming big vehicle chases, proved to be the right combination for this famous Mad Max installment.

Mad Max: Fury Road (Mad Max: Fury Road) (Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road seemed to have little chance of succeeding. For years, Miller’s follow-up to the series that made him famous was stuck in development hell. Gibson was replaced with the younger Tom Hardy because the film’s preproduction went on for so long. Miller ultimately started filming the fourth installment of the movie after bringing in Oscar winner Charlize Theron. Despite this, the problems persisted. The production was hampered by reshoots and a strained working relationship between Hardy and Theron. The odds were stacked against Fury Road as much as they could be. The sequel lacked the original actor who made Mad Max popular in the first place, the cast was feuding on site, and the picture was delayed for over two years before being released in 2015.

The picture had all the makings of a major failure on paper, yet it went on to become one of the most significant and highly praised films of the decade. Fury Road received a total of ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Film. Six of the Oscars went to the picture, including Best Production Design and Best Film Editing.

Fury Road was a visually gorgeous masterpiece. Fury Road is just one lengthy vehicle chase that never lets up on the excitement. In it, Hardy’s Max is tasked with rescuing a group of ladies from the hands of Immortan Joe, a ruthless warlord. Theron’s performance as Imperator Furiosa, on the other hand, stood out, injecting a strong dose of feminism into a male-dominated world established by the villain Immortan Joe and his War Boys. The wait for Fury Road was well worth it. The actors, set pieces, soundtrack, and stunning vistas, along with Miller’s practical effects, make this the series’ greatest picture.

The “mad max beyond thunderdome” is the third installment in the Mad Max series. It was released on December 14, 1985. The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $180 million worldwide.
